"The Black Flame" is a supernal soundtrack from a video created by Kim and Kathleen Cascone commissioned by Storung in Barcelona
Formally trained in electronic music at the Berklee College of Music and the New School in New York City. Founded Silent Records in 1986. Worked on David Lynch's 'Twin Peaks' and 'Wild at Heart' as Assistant Music Editor. Sound designer and composer for Thomas Dolby's company Headspace and head of Content Development for Staccato Systems. Currently traveling Europe as electro-acoustic music performer, lecturer and workshop teacher.
Since 1980, Kim has released over 50 albums of electronic music on Silent, Sub Rosa, Mille Plateaux, Anechoic and 12k. Cascone has performed with artists such as Merzbow, Keith Rowe, Scanner, John Tilbury, Tony Conrad, Pauline Oliveros to name a few.
Cascone founded the .microsound list which focuses on issues concerning post-digital musics and laptop performance and has written for Computer Music Journal (MIT Press), Contemporary Music Review, Artbyte Magazine, Parachute Journal and Junk Jet and is on the Board of Advisors for Interference Journal in Dublin Ireland.
